     RECORD Of Presentation of Photographs for Identification

     18 March 1978                       City of Zaporoezh'ye

On instructions from the Procuratorate of the USSR concerning the
request made by the organs of Justice of the USA, and in accordance
with Articles 174-176 of the Code of Criminal Procedure of the
Ukrainian SSR, Senior Investigator of the Procuratorate of the
Zaporozh'ye Region, senior councillor of Justice Litvinenko, in the
offices of the Procuratorate, in daylight, in the presence of
authorized witnesses:

1. Volkova, Irina Petrovna - residing at no. 27 Panfilovtsy Steet,
   apt. 10

2. Vakhtina, Tat'yana Ivanovna, residing at no. 34 "b", Euznetsova
   Street, apt. 4.

presented to witness MALAGON Nikolay Petrovich for identification
various citizens of the male sex and of middle age, shown on three
photographs. The three photographs presented were pasted in the given
report in a single row, numbered and stamped.

Participants in the presentation fro identification were informed of
their right to make remarks subject to be written down in the record.
The authorized witnesses were moreover informed, of their obligation
under Article 127 of the Code of Criminal Procedure of the Ukrainian
SSR, to certify the fact, the content and the results of the
presentation for identification.

Before presentation for identification started, Malagon Nikolay
Petrovish was warned of the responsibility incurred under Part 2,
Article 178 of the Criminal Code of the Ukrainian SSR for knowingly
giving false evidence and under Article 179 of the Criminal Code of
the Ukrainian SSR for refusing to testify.

Having examined the photographs presented, witness Malagon N.P.
declared: that I cannot identify the men shown on photographs No.1 and
No.2 because I have not seen them before.

I identify the man shown on photograph No.2. [sic]. On this photograph
is shown guard Fedorenko, I do not remember his first name and
patronymic, whom I saw in 1942-1943 in the Trawniki and Treblinka
concentration camps. I identify him by his long face, the expression
of his face and eyes, because I noted well the face of this man in
1942-1943. 

No additions or remarks were made during the identification.

The record was written correctly and read in person by witness
Malagon, N.P.

Identification took place from 4.00 p.m. to 5.00 p.m.
Identification was conducted by Senior Investigator of the
Procuratorate of the Zaporozh'ye Region Senior Councillor of Justice
L. Litvinenko.
