Archive/File: orgs/australian/adelaide-institute/1997/statement-of-kwiet Last-Modified: 1998/04/23 [Page 1] Jeremy Jones and members of the Committee of Management of the Executive Council of Australian Jewry on Behalf of those members of the Jewish community of Australia who are members of organisations affiliated to the Executive Council of Australian Jewry Complainant and Fredrick Toben on Behalf of the Adelaide Institute Respondent Witness Statement: Professor Konrad Kwiet, Macquarie University, Sydney NSW I asked Professor Konrad Kwiet, Centre for Genocide Studies, Macquarie University, to be a witness for this case because he `believes' in the traditional view of the Holocaust. Two years ago, I attended a history conference at the University of New South Wales at which he was one of the key figures defending the traditional view. He advised me to leave the topic alone because "it is bigger than both of us." My reply to that was, "That is why I won't let go of it. It's an intellectual challenge!" Professor Kwiet has, to date, not responded with a witness statement. Fredrick Toben 7 November 1997
