Archive/File: orgs/australian/adelaide-institute/1997/statement-of-lipstadt Last-Modified: 1998/04/23 [Page 1] Jeremy Jones and members of the Committee of Management of the Executive Council of Australian Jewry on Behalf of those members of the Jewish community of Australia who are members of organisations affiliated to the Executive Council of Australian Jewry Complainant and Fredrick Toben on Behalf of the Adelaide Institute Respondent Witness Statement: Professor Deborah Lipstadt, Emory University, Atlanta During Professor Lipstadt's 1994 Australian speaking tour, I met her at Melbourne and asked her what was motivating her in her work. She replied that she is seeking the truth - to which I replied, "So am I". Subsequently she signed for me a copy of her book, `Denying the Holocaust,' with the following `Let truth prevail' Astonishingly, in her seminar she claimed that "There is nothing to debate about the Holocaust - there is no debate!," then went on to libel various revisionists for their pioneering work, for example, labelling them as "haters". I asked her to appear before this HREOC hearing but to date have not had a response from her. Fredrick Toben 7 November 1997
