While this does not equal the intensity of Mr. Giwer's previous mailbomb
attack, in which I was forwarded 104 copies of the same message (see
below), it still constitutes harassment.

As a longtime Internet user, I am well aware of the dangers in an
environment where the enforcement of simple etiquette is generally not
feasible before the fact. I also understand the right for those connected
to the Internet to express themselves freely. I support Mr. Giwer's right
to his freedom of expression.

However, what I do not support are Mr. Giwer's attempts to abuse his
connection to the Internet. I do not mind that ANYBODY sends me e-mail if
they should choose it as the method to express an opinion. However, I do
not want to be harassed. This latest tactic, I am sure you will agree, is
harassment. IN any event, please take notice: MULTIPLE COPIES OF EMAIL FROM
MR. GIWER WILL AUTOMATICALLY BE ARCHIVED AND FORWARDED TO
ABUSE@WORLDNET.ATT.NET. This automatic filtering, achieved by a combination
of Eudora filters and Applescript, will not apply to single copies of
e-mail received by Mr. Giwer, which, as I have stated before, I do not
object to, so long as there is a legitimate purpose for which it is being
sent.

Mr. Giwer has a longstanding history of abuse with respect to the Internet,
involving repeated mailbombs of other users, harassment, attempted
extortion, and uttering threats. His continual harassment of other users
led to the termination of service with two previous Internet service
providers. While I understand that Worldnet cannot hold those actions of
Mr. Giwer, perpetrated using another service provider, against him, I would
strongly urge you to consider learning the tactics that Mr. Giwer
continually uses in his attempts to disrupt meaningful dialogue;
unfortunately, given his past history, I have little doubt that Mr. Giwer
will again attempt to abuse his Internet connection. For confirmation and
reference, please examine the copious documentation available at:



While I have the opportunity, I would like to refer to the specific denial
contained in his letter to you - namely that Mr. Giwer denies having sent a
mailbomb on Friday, September 21. He has requested the mailheaders. I still
have each and every e-mail, and would be happy to provide you with copies;
however, given that that would entail a sizeably mailing, I will at the
moment provide you with a list.

All messages were received by my mailserver, zorro.bctel.ca, on Friday
September 20, 1996, from  mailhost.worldnet.att.net via smap (v1.3).  As I
have mentioned, the original full headers are available if required.

Accordingly, I would request AGAIN that Worldnet take steps to educate Mr.
Giwer, and to instruct him to refrain from further harassment. Again, I
will reiterate that I do not mind receiving e-mail from ANYBODY, so long as
it has a legitimate purpose; Mr. Giwer's mailbomb did not.
