I wish to apologize for the mail you received from Greg Raven.  Somehow
he managed to get subscribed to HOLOCAUS and to obtain an subscriber
list with which to reach you.  He did this without my knowledge or support.
After having been alerted to the problem, I removed him from the
subscriber list.  You have my sincere apologies.

Another Holocaus subscriber, Ingrid Shafer, posted  a note to the
List Owners' Forum asking if any remedy is available.  Here is
a copy of her note along with a couple courses of action I recommend
for anyone who is interested in preventing Greg Raven from ever
doing this again.

I want to assure everyone that Holocaus never has been and will not
be a forum for Holocaust deniers.  I make every effort to prevent any
of them from subscribing to Holocaus.  In addition, I reject any materials
which even hint at Holocaust denial.    Some may call this censorship,
but it has always been a policy of mine that to be a member of this
list it is not unreasonable to require acceptance that the
Holocaust really happened.  There are other forums available
for deniers to expound their trash, but not this one.
Again, I apologize for what Greg Raven did.

Dear sir:

I would like to alert you to a serious matter raised by a number of
my subscribers.  Within the past couple days, Greg Raven
(greg.ihr@kaiwan.com) sent a message to my subscribers containing
Holocaust denial materials which are extremely disturbing.  He
did this by obtaining a copy of my subscription list and then sending
private email to everyone on the list.  This was done without my prior
knowledge or approval, which I can assure you would not have
been forthcoming.

Myself and the list subscribers consider this highly inappropriate
use of email in that it was unsolicited and also extremely disturbing
that anyone would send such distasteful materials to anyone, but
particularly to people on this list who actually experienced the Holocaust
themselves or lost family members.  Holocaus is not only subscribed
to by Holocaust scholars but by a sizeable number of survivors
as well.

I am copying this note to Greg Raven in the hopes that it will prevent
him from ever misusing the Holocaus subscription list again.   In addition,
I would like to alert you to this extremely serious problem and to request
your help in preventing any further recurrence.
