Mauthausen - St.Georgen/Gusen - St. Florian/Linz
Several hundred pilgrims from France, Germany, Hungary and Austria followed
the invitation and came to the original sites of the late martyrdom of
MARCEL CALLO at MAUTHAUSEN, GUSEN and ST.GEORGEN/GUSEN.
The following official delegations commemorated Marcel and the many
other victims of Deportation, Holocaust and Mauthausen-Gusen:
- CAJ Osnabrueck, Thuringia,
- JOC France,
- KAB Augsburg, Bamberg, Erlangen, Regensburg-Weiden,
- PAX-CHRISTI Germany, etc.
Furthermore;
- Marcel´s family with brother Jean CALLO and former comrades like
- Bishop Rtd. Mgr. Louis KUEHN,
- Rene Le TONGUEZE and
- Fernand MORIN (owner of the cross Marcel made of immortelles) together with
- Bishop KOCH and Ordinariatsrat Christoph HUEBENTHAL (Erfurt, Germany),
- Bishop Maximilian AICHERN (Linz, Austria),
- General-Vicarius Roger CHOPIN (Delegate of the Archbishop of Rennes, France),
- General-Vicarius Theo PAUL (Osnabrueck, Germany),
- Vice-Postulator Rosemarie PABEL (Germany),
- Verbandspraeses Konrad SEIDL (KAB Southern-Germany),
- Praesidiumsmitglied Wolfgang DEIXLER (PAX-CHRISTI, German unit),
- Sektions-Chef Dr. Wolf SZYMANSKI (Austrian Federal Ministry of the Interior),
- Hofrat Hans MARSALEK (Oesterreichische Lagergemeinschaft Mauthausen and
survivor of KZ Mauthausen central camp),
- Sektions-Chef i.R. Dr. Hermann LEIN (Oesterreichische Lagergemeinschaft Mauthausen and
survivor of KZ Mauthausen central camp) and
- Mr. Leo KUHN (Oesterreichische Lagergemeinschaft Mauthausen and
survivor of KZ Mauthausen-Ebensee concentration camp)
Additionally, official commemorational addresses were sent by:
A sermon by The Bishop of Linz, Austria
(the diocese where the Mauthausen, Gusen, Ebensee, etc. concentration camps were)
was dedicated to Marcel Callo and the many other unknown victims of that complex
in a pontifical service on October 5, 1997.
Even a young lady that lives around the remnants of the
KZ Gusen II tunnels and that guides groups in the KZ Mauthausen
Memorial Museum dedicated her most personal impressions
of that week-end to this Marcel Callo pages.
